Gorse shield bug - Piezodorus lituratus

I found this little beauty today sitting on an ivy leaf in the middle of the gorse like shrubs we have at work.
At 10 - 13mm it is one of the larger British shield bugs and the adults exist in two colour forms. Those which emerge and mate in the spring are mainly green with reddish legs and antennae, whereas the generation appearing in late summer, like this one have purple-red markings.
Another most welcome sign spring is in the air!
I wonder how many different shield bugs I will find to show you this year.
