Eye of God

This was going to be my blip yesterday. Our current topic is 'Mexico' and we made these 'Eye of Gods' before half term. Yesterday we were making larger ones using willow sticks but they are not quite finished yet. These are on display in our reception area.

A God's eye is a yarn weaving and a spiritual object. The Ojo de Dios (Eye of God in Spanish) is woven with yarn and wood, often with several colors.
In many of the Pueblos of New Mexico (U.S.) Ojos de Dios have traditionally been created for celebration or blessing, presented as a gift or designed to bless a home.
