The Man Fish of Liérganes

This a statue of The Man Fish of Liérganes, a village not far from Cantabria.
The legend says that in the 17th century there was a family living in Liérganes. The had 4 sons. When their father died, their mother sent the second of the sons to Bilbao to learn how to be a carpenter. One day he went to swimg and he got lost in the sea. Some years later, some fishermen caught a strange fish on their nets. It was a fish with the shape of a man and they could hear him to say the word: Liérganes. When they discover that Liérganes was a village of Cantabria they sent him to his home. When he returned with his famly he became a quiet man who did not speak at all.
Nine years later he disappeared in the sea and nobody saw him again.
