Dispatched not hatched

I enjoyed a fabulous blustery walk along the beach this morning as the tide was going out. When I was here last week the beach was cluttered with dead starfish ripped from the sea bed during the recent storms. Today we found lots of yellow clumps which frequently burled across the sand with Cara in hot pursuit thinking they were balls to chase. These clumps are actually whelk eggs, which are normally deposited on rocks out at sea but which have found their way to the shore due to the stormy conditions. Some of the eggs have obviously hatched but if you look on large you can see unhatched eggs still inside the tiny sacks.

You can see Bruce in the background and the pair of them had a wonderful time scampering in amongst the waves.
