"It's pretty darn late I suppose. Sure is quiet. Pub's closed. It's raining on and off and everybody's gone home. Say ... there's a taxi over there, hanging out for one last lonely fare. I guess that'll be me if I've got any money left."

Actually I am far too much of a staid old wimp to be out on the streets at 2:45 am. I'd just left a Rhodo Festival meeting at 9:15. I was (boringly) on my way home. I still have these wistful dreams of being a Humphrey Bogart style persona in the middle of a film noir classic. (sigh)
