The Rucksack Club Trophy.

This trophy is awarded to the 1st Vets Team in the High Peak Marathon.

The High Peak Marathon isn't a 26.2 mile road race - it is a 42 mile, 7500 ft fell race for teams of 4 over some of the most difficult ground in northern England around the Derwent Watersheds in the Peak District run in late February each year.

As if a 42 mile race in mid-winter wouldn't be difficult enough, each team gets its own start time - between 23:00 and 24:00 on Friday night to ensure that much of the race is run in darkness and last night in sub-zero temperatures with a bit of snow around breakfast time.

After work last night I traveled south to Edale to set off at 23:34 to run, walk and shuffle round the 42 miles to finish 12 hours 18 minutes and 42 seconds later, fast enough to be the 1st Vets Team.
