Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Today Arvin, Steve and I headed out to Red Rock Canyon for another day of desert ratting. Since it is Saturday, there were lots of people there taking advantage of the sunny weather after yesterday's rain. Some of them were practicing climbing. We saw this gal climbing up a stationary rope and I grabbed a shot. When I got home I noticed the photographer on the right. We drove around the scenic loop and enjoyed taking pictures. The clouds were quite wonderful. On our way back we stopped at Calico Canyon, a spot we've never seen before. We enjoyed walking and exploring a bit of the area. It is on the other side of the same large jumble of red and pink striated rocks where we had seen the climbers.

By this time we were really hungry so we sought food. The first two stops were tavern style places that were dark and very noisy. We all wondered why anybody would want to eat there. But we quickly realized that we were not the demographic. Geezers not invited. :) They were nice to us, but really, it was all too loud and dark for us. So we found a small mall Chinese food restaurant and got huge "lunch" meals for very little money that were delicious. Definitely the way to go.

We came back to the condo and Arvin and Helena are resting while I do my blip and Steve does his crossword puzzles. Soon he and I will play yet another Carcassonne. :)
