Curlew

After seeing this lovely shot yesterday by Chamaeleo (who is one of my favourite blippers), I really wanted to get some bird photos and found this Curlew at Evie Beach, where Noel and Sonja were looking for spoots at the low tide (I'll elaborate tomorrow).

Curlews are Europe's largest wading bird, and I think they are here all year, but I seem to associate their wonderful call with the beginning of spring. They have a whole array of weird and wonderful noises and I love when they fly over the house.

On the downside, I might be wanting another Telephoto lens now - I'll write it on my long shopping list...
