The wine cellar

We went to Skipton castle on Saturday with a free voucher from the Craven herald. It has a fascinating history. There was a primitive fort built here by a Norman baron in 1090. Robert Clifford became the first Lord of Skipton in 1310 and started to build his castle. It was the Clifford's main seat until 1676. It withheld 3 years of the civil war until it fell. It was restored in the 1600's by Lady Anne Clifford. This is the wine cellar, only the Lord and Lady and their guests would drink it though.
