In the Orange Tree

One small, delicate
nest obscured, many scented
blossoms scent the air

~ carliewired

The orange tree is beginning to bloom. The scent of citrus blossoms is indescribably delicious. Their perfume hangs in the air and drifts around the yard. One lone orange tree can produce such heavenly odors. I poked my camera around in the tree today for the first time in several weeks. I've been steering clear of the tree while the hummingbird was occupying it. We hadn't seen her or baby for several days now. So, we suspect they've moved on. Just as well because the feeders must come down soon when we take our leave.

As I moved in and around the branches I discovered the empty nest. It was surprisingly well hidden, although it was low on the tree and near the outside edge of the branches. It was less than 5 feet off the ground. Mama must have known what she was doing because Baby survived and learned to fly.

See Baby here.
