Wednesday 18 November 2009: Blue Spotted Ray

I like literal fish names. This is a Ray. It has blue spots. So it is called a "Blue Spotted Ray". Even I can remember this sort of thing.
We found this one hiding under a coral ledge on some sand, with which he had partially covered himself. I think we frightened him as he swam off, and in this picture you can see the sand streaming off him as he lifts off the seabed and accelerates!
