Melville Street

This is looking South at the 500 block of South Melville Street, which is one of our easy-to-miss residential blocks that have short pieces scattered along, often far apart. There are a few other blocks of Melville, aligned perfectly with this one, in pieces through the 5-10 miles to the North. There are thousands of little blocks like this, all over the city. Everyone likes them for being tucked away and known only by the locals, but some are dreary and barren, others pleasant, like this one. It looks good mainly because none of the houses are missing, and the trees have done well over the years.

This scene is about 200 feet from my place. I painted one of the houses on the left many years ago, and the paint is holding up well.
