Road Trip day 8

Today we drove from Torrey, UT to Kanab, UT.
In the morning we visited Capitol Reef National Park. We had driven the scenic route of the park yesterday in the afternoon and this morning we met up with a Park Ranger for a guided walk. We knew we couldn't join for the whole walk, but it was nice to be able to learn something about its history and the different layers of (sand) stone. The only other people on the tour were a German couple.

After the walk, we got in the car and drove to Bryce Canyon National Park. On our way there we drove through Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and made several stops to take pictures of the beautiful landscape. I personally think I like this park better than Bryce Canyon. Lots of colors and great for photography.

We had a picnic stop at Escalante Petrified Forest State Park which was very nice. We had wanted to to the little petrified forest trailhead, which is just a miles walk, but we were pressed for time.

The colors of Bryce National Park are stunning. It feels like you walk around in a fairy tale. Unfortunately we couldn't walk the trails, because of my meniscus. I had surgery in late April and am still recovering.
I bet you've seen it all before, but this is the best I could do. The hoodoos are great for photography, but I wanted to capture the overview of how long stretched everything is. You'll feel so small and humble when you visit Bryce.
