Caitlin, everyday

Sensory City

I left work with Owl City blaring into my headphones, loud enough to cut out almost all the sounds of the city. The air was crisp enough to bring out the scent of pine boughs spread over the city gardens, and Michigan Avenue was lit with Christmas lights -- which always improves my mood.

I do not always do well in Winter. But tonight, sight, sound and smell took my breath away tonight. A beautiful surprise after mourning Summer for the last few weeks.

The end is uncertain
And I've never been so afraid
But I don't need a telescope to see that there's hope
And that makes me feel brave
