City of Books

A town that has a real bookstore can't be all bad. Powell's City of Books had us rediscovering the joy of books. To see so much information available from so many authors representing so many different slants and points of view made me realize how much joy in information we have lost or forgotten. The more corporate book shops tend to stock books that they believe will sell, and so the choice is limited. On-Line is a great convenient recourse, but search engines are slanted toward providing information from the few, not really the many - so there is something about everything, but you have to really dig to find out everything about something.

In the book store - it had so many authors on any given subjects, and so many different categories, that we bought quite a bit. Now we have field guides to edible plants, birds, flowers, animals and trees and we don't have to be connected to get it. I am not saying on-line is bad, it's great, but I had forgotten how much exists outside of Wikipedia and Amazon etc :)

Anyway - we all had hours of fun - Eryn is doing her, it's funny daddy, but "should you be doing impersonations in public" look?
