Young Northern Flicker

This female keeps coming to the suet feeder. I am waiting for her to spread her wings just right to show the beautiful red under feathers. But for today, she only posed sitting and this is what I got. She is a pretty girl and I hope she'll raise a family somewhere near her. The male has been knocking on our and our neighbor's metal chimney caps to demonstrate to her what a fine fellow he is, able to make a wonderful hole for her in a tree. The whole house reverberates when he does his demonstration.

We went to the Bellingham Chamber Chorale concert this afternoon. It was wonderful. The sang all French music from the 20th century, Faure's Cantique to Jean Racine, Durufle's Requiem and Poulenc's Gloria. It was heavenly to listen to, especially since I've sung all three. Ahh.
