Parkred

It was a long day today but a good one. I was up at seven as I had to meet Mark early doors and head west for the League Cup Final. We were meeting up with fellow Aberdeen fans in the Celtic Supporters club to pick up our tickets. To make a day of it we got there for eleven so we could get a few pre-match drinks in. There was a great atmosphere in there then we all decamped and headed for th ground at around ten to two for the half two kick off.

The game itself was not much to write home about. Certainly not the most exciting game of football I've ever seen. A couple of our most creative players missed it. One was out from the start and one had to leave the field after only a couple of minutes with an injured collarbone. Between that and Inverness playing with ten behind the ball, albeit with some good counter-attacking, it made for a tense and tight affair. The clubs couldn't be separated either in the 90 minutes or extra time so it went to penalties.

I normally hate penalties, but Jamie Langfield saved their first penalty and they missed their second while we scored all four that we got to take so it was pretty comfortable.

That was the first trophy we've won in nineteen years so the party atmosphere in the ground afterwards was pretty amazing. Given that usually when we go to Celtic park we are in the minority it was amazing to see more than 40,000 dons fans there today and even more amazing to celebrate amongst them while we picked up the trophy.
