Too hectic a day yesterday to blip so have backblipped . We headed off to Rosscarberry, met up with Robert and Finola and set off to explore Bononagh Stone Circle. Watched by many young black and white cattle and a huge bull with a ring through his nose, we tramped up the farmtrack to the circle. Fantastic! 13 huge stones in excellent condition, amazing views and the most colossal boulder burial. This was just the start. Onwards to:
Burgatia and two cup marked standing stones
Rathbarry and a walk along the river, violets and primroses, and a quick stop off at the teeny sprigging school where lace making was once taught
a quick look in the current church, rather nice
on to the woods in Castlefreke and an intrepid walk down a bamboo and briar strewn path to the old estate church - once a fine building with what must have been an incredibly colourful interior, but now abandoned - I just love the mosaics bravely clinging to the inside walls
down to Long Strand for a yomp on the beach
Back to Bantry for fish and (more chips) - Robert and Finola nobly going back to the stone circle to take in the equinoxal sunset
on to art house and the very good - Short Term 12 .
Wrecked.

Today is Himself's birthday - he's not hugely impressed to be a year older but there you go. The alternative is worse! I bought him something technical which fits onto your computer and callibrates the colour and a rather interesting book on very painterly aerial photography. He's had a chocolate brownie with an everlasting candle, which was actually too sweet - the brownie not the candle. And we've been busy planting the spuds - two beds full.
We had a slightly panicky text from son#1 this morning who wanted to know if he'd had chicken pox as he'd come out in a rash and had been sent home from work. I couldn't actually remember but rather impressively managed to find the book where I wrote this kind of thing down. The answer was 'possibly', when he had measles ! Anyway, it appears it is a reaction to the antibiotics he's on for something else!
Right, off to make a birthday supper.
Today's blip, a bit of an emergency splash of colour amidst the grey.
