Shadow Max

Shadow Cat

shadow of himself
in days more rosy
our once big guy
goes padding on
his feline ways
of naps, good food
fine dreams of mice
each day is new
not past or next
ever on the path
his quest for sun

Max continues to do well, thin, but going about his daily cat business of sleep and food with a bit more vocalized chat and pacing. We give him love and marvel at his continued coat of dark fine fur like mink, even as he shrinks.

Last night my Hanover Garden Club sponsored a public program about owls . It was fabulous, two excellent presenters , performing their program together for 18 years. Marcia & Mark are authorized owl rehab folks, naturalists and Mark a nature photographer. He's had a National Geographic cover. Seven owls arrived with them in their luxurious wooden travel cases. All of the amazing birds have disabilities after healed injuries and have not the flying or survival skills to return to the wild. Several had been raised by humans and that imprinting prevents them from being released. They live in large aviaries and all looked healthy and vigorous. The Snowy Owl had some scrapes on his 'wrists' that they said was not serious. I brought my Leica, thinking that they might not allow photos, it was packed as an after thought actually. I wish I had brought my Nikon with a faster lens, it was dark and they flapped lots. They did sit quietly as she paraded them around and I was able to get some dramatic close ups. It was thrilling and amazing. Hearing so acute that they can hear the heartbeat of a mouse. We had a great turn out and response to the program.

For the Record,
This day came in with a beautiful sunrise and red orange light bathed the bare trees as the sun rose in the sky.

All hands healthy
