Colourful Event

This was taken at the Anissa Victoria's Vintage Market today at the Pallet Pavilion. There was so much to see from Vintage clothing, jewellery, retro records, crafts, collectables, silverware, military merchandise, bric a brac, homemade food, books, accessories, vintage reproduction clothing, cafe & Bar and entertainment! It was interesting looking around and the day was nice and sunny but there was a cool wind.

The Pallet Pavilion well start to be deconstructed on April 7. It is expect it to take 6 weeks in total. It’s going to be done with volunteer power, which is the same way as it was built.

Why is the Pallet Pavilion coming down?
The Pallet Pavilion was always meant to be temporary. And actually, it has been here for a whole year longer than we first intended! It was only meant to be a 5-month Summer project from December 2012 – April 2013. And now here we are in 2014.

After the Pavilion’s first Summer so many people called for it to stay that Gap Filler ran a crowdfunding campaign on PledgeMe to decide its fate. Incredibly, $82 000 was raised in just 29 days, the target was met, decision made and the Pavilion stayed for another whole year. It was a wonderful expression of the goodwill and community-togetherness that the project had captured. It was such a special thing to have happened. But all goods things must end.

How are we going to deconstruct it? It is going to be horizontally cutting the pallet walls and steel reinforcing rods at the half-way point (2m), reinforcing it and then using cranes to lift this cut-away section off and to the ground. The use the crane to pull out the metal rods that vertically go through each stack of pallets and then order the stack neatly when working on the ground. Then, they can be picked up with a forklift and put on a truck and taken back to their home at CHEP.

I never got yesterdays blip put up until this morning and I found it to be an interesting one.
