Friday 4 December 2009: Poignant dawn
Another spectacular dawn but as the smoke reaches to blot out the sun, the announcement was made that 1,700 jobs out of 2,000 are to go. Not the news the workers wanted to hear - especially at this time of year - but a death knell for another local industry which has been the lifeblood of this area for so long.
