Suburban Street

I always feel this little estate seems a little incongruous, down at the end of our street. It doesn't feel like it's in Leith, surrounded by so much older housing. It is on the site of the old Chancelot Mill that looks to have been a really impressive building before it was demolished in 1971. Here's an old aerial photo of the mill and the surrounding area. Fascinating to see all the old railway lines, many of which are now part of the cycle network. The street more or less follows the line of the railway track in front of the mill complex, with the railway wagons on it.
