Westmorland

We left Penrith on Tuesday morning and headed home to Berkshire. We decided to take a scenic route to Lancaster, through Cumbria, Westmorland and Yorkshire. What a great decision.
Starting out in rain and mist the weather began to clear and we were rewarded with great scenery down the Eden Valley, Kirkby Stephen, Hawes, Ribblehead viaduct and Ingleton.
When we joined the motorway at Lancaster the scenery became much more mundane, but on the positive side the temperature did rise to a giddy 17 degrees by the time we got home. So warm & bland or cold/wet & spectacular? We go to Wales next Monday. so another chance to test the options.
