Santa Dash 2009

How come you never hear anything about the 10th reindeer - "Olive" ?
You know, "Olive the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him names"

A Scottish Santa Claus came down the chimney and said: "Anyone want to buy a present".

What goes red white, red white, red white?
Santa rolling down a hill

Enough!

Today was the day of the annual Santa Dash in Glasgow lead by football legend Kenny Dalglish. The event raises money for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and the Marina Dalglish Appeal.

Hundreds of Santas (including a few celebrity ones) turned up on a dull foggy day in Glasgow to take part in the 5k event. People of all ages including children, and a few celebrities took part. Last year nearly three thousand runners took part, and this year should see that figure exceeded.

The weather wasn't at all good for photography, although not bad for running.

The first ones back put in very respectable times but it wasn't a serious race, just a fun event to raise lots of money for good causes. One of the first female Santas to complete the course was newsreader Jackie Bird.

It really is hilarious to see these Santas all over the place before and after the event. The first thing I noticed when I arrived in the area was a car occupied by 4 Santas driving round and round looking for a parking space.
