Stop the Madness

So after many years of toying with the idea, we went ahead with home schooling Eryn, and what a joy it has been.

She loves it and now we get to do her regular work with individual attention, we do short field trips whenever it doesn't rain. So our walks in the forest are now about berries and leaves and recognizing plants, about life cycles, ecology, about leaf structures and xylem and plant reproduction. Her interest in subjects has rocketed and we even learned about proportion and ratio and scale by baking and mapping our house and playing with the G.P.S.

I am not suggesting this is the way to go for everyone, just because it works for us - but I am saying it's so nice, I can't believe we didn't do it sooner, and it is more common now so there are more resources out there to help than in my day.
