Picnic at Hanging Rock

OMG - what a day. We've just staggered in wrecked and weatherbeaten but very happy. The west Cork Massive monthly blip meet. I'm not even entirely sure where we've been - right and up at Adrigole. The road ended and we walked off along the edge of a sparkling little river then right into the wild, huge mountains, massive rocks scattered willy nilly, red bottomed sheep, and the largest waterfall on the Beara (or possibly Ireland). Three of us decided to climb up the edge of it to what TJ assured us was a lake at the top. Here is TJ and look how high we are! The slope got steeper and steeper and more rocked filled and slippery and we didn't get to the lake but what a view. We picnicked on a large flat rock - shades of Picnic at Hanging Rock minus the white frillies and hats - and basked in the warm sunshine. Little trees lined the waterfall including one adorned with a rosary. Bivouacs had been made under rocks - little walls adding extra protection. Totally magical.

Picnic at Hanging Rock - oh that music!
