Harvest time

The major honey production season has started in this part of the world. The Allgäu (Allgaeu if umlauts don't work on your PC) is now awash with dandelions. To the west around Lake Constance the fruit tree blossom season will soon start. This year it's looking much better than 2013, several weeks ahead of schedule, if a little too dry. Perhaps with luck the flowering period will be extended as we have some cool nights & days ahead before the warmer weather returns on Easter Saturday.

I need to get to grips with the hive then and try to make the best out of my earlier mistakes. MrB popped by a week ago and he briefly gave an outline. I need his help though to inspect the status quo. Would love to have more hives but for now the one will have to do.

MrB had popped over to let me have a DVD he had received with his German equivalent of Shooting Times with a long video about the Glorious Twelfth and a visit to a, German speaking, North England farmer & hunter. MrB seemed more interested in that than moose hunting in Alaska, coyotte in Dakota or any of the other exotic offers from around the globe. But he seems to have a penchant for all things British with a good supply of Pimms & Famous Grouse in his drinks cabinet. Cricket is still a mystery for him but he has enquired about cucumber sandwiches & Croquet.

Grouse hunting does have a very large if also very different following in Germany. The name is usually translated as "Moorhuhn" (Moor Chicken) even if not 100% correct. It is also the original German name for the German developed PC game called "Moorhuhn" know in English as "Crazy Chicken". It was developed by an agency for use with Johnnie Walker adverising but I suspect the competition benefited more.

However PC games are not MrB's world. So any grouse moor owners who could offer a days shoot for MrB are welcome to contact him at the address on the "About" page! Don't need to speak German, MrB is fit in English and in British countryside etiquette.
