Down on our luck

The annual Brownie bingo evening in the hall is eagerly awaited by the population.

First comes the bingo - hard fought, tense, a few tears, couple of stramashes, fabulous prizes to the winner... nothing but heartache to those unlucky souls at our table.

Towards the last few games we were starting to stare longingly at the cups piled at the end of the table. Tension mounts. What kind of homebakes will we be treated to?

Phew, hot on the heels of the last shout of 'House', the trolley arrives. Refreshments make us believe our luck may change for the raffle. We can't go home empty handed. Lady luck has visited every table bar ours. Surely we're going to clean up those raffle prizes?

Nope!

Nothing!

Not even a box of smarties!

Oe even the mysterious parcel marked 'For a man' !??!

It's official. We are the unluckiest people in the hall. Oh the shame.

Still, there's bound to be another raffle in the next few days... isn't there?
