Inspiring kids

Fabulous day today - fabulous indeed :)

The Ministry of Inspiration is a local group of teachers whose focus is to orgainse and run events to extend and challenge the most able of the region's students. They have been busy recently organising this year's 'Inspire Conference' which began today - and a mammoth affair it was too.

It was held at NMIT - our local higher education institution - and that in itself added an air of higher-level learning, with access to some pretty awesome resources. Students could elect to do 4 sessions from a diverse range of topics......CSI, Dolphin Digits, Small Living, Technology Warfare, Maths of Juggling, Ecotoxicology, Cryptography, Psychology........

Presenters were every bit as diverse as their topics too.......teachers, lecturers, Phd students, film- makers, Dr Siouxsie Wiles and Paul who teaches at the same school as me. All very different but all with one very important thing in common - totally engaging, fun and challenging presentations that the students loved.

Great day and one that has sparked a few ideas in my mind to develop and challenge our students at school.

All good stuff :)
