Beluga Point

Beluga Point is just south of Anchorage. Bluesheep and benek, you have been here.

In the Spring the Beluga Whales travel south along the coast. It is common that they will turn into the Cook Inlet and follow the shoreline south into the Turnagain Arm.

At this point the Belugas come close to the shore and can be easily seen from the rocks. I have counted over 20 whales seen at one time as a pod goes by.

Years ago the native Indians would hunt the Beluga in the shallow waters of the Cook Inlet.

In the far distant valley lies the township of Hope, Alaska, claimed population 137. I will take you there someday soon.
