Glossy Ibis

Walking through Polis yesterday we noticed a large bird flying near the new river bridge, (where, unlike most of the river beds, a little slow-moving water remained) and took it to be a dark heron. We returned today for a better look - it was still there, (although yesterday's kingfisher was not).

This is now identified as a Glossy Ibis, not a common bird but a passage migrant, that occasionally stays in Cyprus through the summer.

We then took a walk along one of the trails in the Akamas peninsular, including a peek at Aphrodite's bathing pool, admiring the many flowers and variety of rocks.
