Bowood 2014 #4

Now that the outside weather has arrived it has been a pleasure to gather the work I have to do and take it somewhere scenic to do, and Bowood is of course ideal. I spent a couple of hours on a bench seat looking down on the Lake, with trees springing to life all around me.

Gladys Knight & The Pips - The Boy From Crosstown (recording completed 20 September 1967 and included on Feeling Bluesy the following year)
Gil Askey (b. 9 March 1925, Austin TX; d. 9 April 2014) was a jazz trumpeter who worked with Miles Davis and many others, and also a composer and arranger who is regarded as the architect of the Motown sound. He was described by Berry Gordy as 'the glue that kept everything together'. Gladys Knight was one of many Motown artists whose work was arranged by Gil Askey, including this track, produced by Norman Whitfield.
