St. Mary's in the Mirror

I have driven by this church hundreds of times and today I decided to stop. It sits at the intersection of two major 6-lane divided roads, between strip malls and modern high-rises. The tiny white brick church has been at this site for nearly 200 years.

The church's adjacent cemetery contains the graves of F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda. On Scott Fitzgerald's grave today, there were a pair of glasses, a literary magazine wrapped in plastic, a potted green plant, an Easter egg, and a cup full of pencils and pens .

It was very difficult to get back far enough from the Church to take a picture because of the busy roadways, but across 12 lanes, I saw the church's reflection in the mirrored windows of a very modern office building. I knew it would be my blip for today.

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past" - the last line from the Great Gatsby, inscribed on F. Scott Fitzgerald's grave.
