Salisbury Cathedral

Wearing her hennin,
As befits a fine princess,
Elegant and strong.

...... we went away to Salisbury for the easter weekend. On the Friday evening the weather was glorious, so we ventured into Salisbury to meet SarumStroller. After initial hellos and comments on the druid who had just driven into the car park, we had a wander round to the cathedral close.

The Cathedral is surely the most elegant you will ever see, with it's beautifully delicate spire and set amidst a wonderful open space bounded by historic buildings. It has always had a special place in my heart, but I hadn't realised it must be 30 years since my last visit.

We were very lucky to be able to see Salisbury in such wonderful light and with such lovely company.... needless to say there were many photographs taken and much chatting ... some of it about photography!

After our walk we retired to the local pub for something to eat .... SarumStroller has written about it on his blip ...so I won't repeat it here. As we live in the countryside, with no streetlighting, I usually have a small torch in my bag ... which came in very handy for looking at the OS map in the trendy gloom!

Anyway, I have more blips to post and poems to write, but my eyes are closing and it's back to work tomorrow......

... to be continued....

*Hennin is apparently the name for the pointy hats with veils that medieval noble ladies wore ... no I didn't know that either, but that's what the spire made me think of, so I had to find out what they were called and luckily it was a word with two syllables which would fit in my haiku!
