a sense of adventure

it is reassuring when you follow a snowy track and stretching out ahead are tyre tracks. assuming you don't find their maker in a ditch shortly afterwards (or you just passed them! :-)) it is nice to know that someone came this way and that they made it to where they were going, so you will too.

mind you, there is a sense of adventure when you follow a track and the only signs of life are bird and deer prints crossing in front of you (at one point the deer stopped for a wee - there were no people tracks near so must've been the deer!). admittedly, cycling a bridleway in oxfordshire is not an extreme sport, but if imagination can make you feel like an antarctic explorer as you free the iced gate latches at the level crossing, well, why not eh? :-)

here is the crossing over the A34. i stopped because the crack in the foreground looked bigger than before and all great disaster movies start with cracks in the ground getting bigger. i suspect it has always been that way, but the snow accentuated it. i thought i'd take a shot along it, looking like a gorge but my eye got distracted!
