Beggar

I don't like taking photographs of other people's misfortunes but this image struck me. I thought at first, from a distance, that it was a black dog sitting on the path. Women prostrating themselves on the ground in this manner are not an uncommon sight in Moscow. The sight is of course even more striking in winter. More often than not there appears to be a religious connotation.
