Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

What a difference a day makes.

We were well advised not to cast any clouts just yet, because after yesterday's glorious weather the haar has returned with a vengeance.

A pity really, because today was the day that our new bridge, replacing one erected in 1782, was put in place over the Foveran Burn, with the help of the largest crane I have ever seen.

As a Yorkshire tyke I was delighted to discover that the bridge was made in Shepley in West Yorkshire, just a few miles from where I was born. I'm sure that this rather fine replacement will last for another 200 years!
