Flag Unfurling

Another trip round the back garden, looking for interesting bugs or flowers. Today's specimen is a Flag Iris in bud.

I took some rhizomes from my Mums garden more than a quarter of a century ago(!) and planted them in my first garden where they gave a magnificent display every spring. I bought some with me to my present house, but the poorer ground conditions mean they have never bloomed well - so I'm pleased to see one this this year.
