"F"

'F' is for Franz Bakery.

Englebert and Joe Franz emigrated to the United States in 1896 to work at their Uncle's Bakery in Portland Ore. In 1906 they bought a bakery in Portland and a year later they bought their Uncle out, and named the bakery "United States Bakery". The bread was delivered in horse drawn wagons.

My father delivered bread for years for Langendorf and Gai's Bakery.until his retirement in 1994. Franz Bakery acquired these bakeries in the 80's and 90's respectively. When we were growing up eating Wonder bread was a "Sin"!! I still won't buy it!!
