The face at the window

Not sure if it was the visit to the Clootie well or the spooky week on This Morning but this is my blip for today. Can you see her, looking at you ? Gave me a start as it's not very often you see a severed head in a window lol.
I could have given you so many wonderful images of snow covered mountains, glassy lochs, a kirk or some birds but David decided it had to be this one.

It was an early start with a trip to the Puffin Pool. After a quick look and walk at Ferrypoint and then off to Strathpeffer Railway Station café for a wonderful cooked breakfast. The lady was very kind and served us at 9.30 even though they do nt open until 10.

A drive to a loch on the way to Loch Kinellan brought us several Mallard, two swans nesting and two Slavonian grebes and plenty of chaffinch and bluetits.

A walk along the banks of the wonderful and very picturesque Loch Kinellan with it's Crannog in the middle, an artificial iron-age lake dwelling which provided safety away from wolves and raiders, which now provides a safe haven for many ducks and the two mute swans nesting. Also golden eye, more grebes, reed bunting, swallows, buzzard and a willow warbler were sighted.

Next down to Little Scatwell where my friend Jackie from the pool used to live. She is an author and illustrator of childrens books and has sold over a 1000 copies of her books based in and around Croft Cottage which we walked past and spotted two of the goat kids that are a few weeks old. She has dyslexia and is a great inspiration to youngsters in the local schools. She has even created an mural based on the Scatwell rabbits in one of the schools.

Saw a hare running across a field and plenty of red kites and buzzards enjoying the wonderful sunshine.

Even managed some gardening when I got back, so happy days :)
