LARVA

Getting together some fuel for the stove cracked open a fairly rotten log and found this inside. It didn't move much but seemed to be alive. Don't know much about bug anatomy but those look a bit like eggs in its beak-like mouth. Or perhaps it's the other end. There's a picture of the whole thing here.
I stuck it on the bird table and it had gone when I looked less than a couple of minutes later. (Not being very PC I can say I prefer birds to bugs).
