Life in Sunny Dubai

From the 33rd Floor

Today I dressed up (white shirt and jacket) and went to the Fairmont Hotel for a day of being updated on the latest things happening with CIPS. They booked this room on the 33rd floor. All I can say is "WOW". You really do have to go large to view everything - especially all the flame trees adding a burst of red/orange.

Many of these buildings should be familiar - but just in case... the square white building is the Dubai World Trade Centre i.e. where I work (on the 21st floor). The big circle in front of it is Trade Centre Roundabout with its 7 exits - here you can see it in its entirety and all the roads leading to it. Badly proportioned telco building just to the left and the large glass building on the right of DWTC was previously blipped here. In the foreground on the right is the Trade Centre Arena - a large building with absolutely no natural light going in. You can even see McGettingans and Dubai Financial Market; and Zabeel Park sprawling on either side of the highway. And lastly, the building on the extreme left is Sama Tower which is home to Zurich amongst other offices/homes.

Hope you can follow that! Met up with ex-colleagues at Dubai Mall in the evening. Haven't seen them in AGES and we had the best three hours catching up. It was so good to see them again. Really late now; so I will catch up with you tomorrow afternoon.
