Small sign of politics

On the cycle path. With a little over four months to go will we see more and more of this sort of thing? Although presumably not the 'official' lamp post posters that the council has banned before elections. Seems rather ironic in this city where we are swamped with posters for Fringe shows during July and August but we can't allow posters that might improve participation in our democracy.
Taken on the way to football, where we enjoyed a great comeback, from 0-4, 1-5 and 2-6 down to win 8-6 in the end. For quite a while it seemed the only personal consolation would be the satisfaction of scoring a goal into the top corner as we seemed unable to keep up with the other team. More or less the same teams as last week when we managed to keep things closer than the balance of play might have suggested. So it felt like we were being found out this week. Even the second goal, when I took a corner straight onto G's head, seemed more of a consolation than a shift in fortunes. But then, somehow, we turned things around. Three goals in quick succession, including one more for me from a rebound. And then another rebound goal for my hat-trick. We were suddenly the team creating chances. We hit the post and then took the lead with a neat lobbed finish from P and then A rounded things off by sliding the ball past the onrushing goalie. Very satisfying :-)
A little disappointed with myself for failing to mark the anniversary of the Bradford Fire, which was yesterday - 56 supporters died in the fire at Valley Parade on the last day of the season in 1985. The same day that a young football fan died at a match in Birmingham. This is what I wrote about that day a couple of years ago.
