Bluebells on the Bellister Estate

It's Wednesday so we went walking - the Haltwhistle Walkers that is. It was a beautiful day and we were able to relax, with the duties of the recent festival over for another time. Brian W led a walk from Haltwhistle by the River South Tyne to Featherstone and beyond. We saw the substantial footbridge that was washed away in the last bad floods.

In the woods, the bluebells are still flowering and have been joined by wood anemones, wood sorrel, garlic, bugle, germander speedwell and water avens. It was a delight to see them all. Unfortunately most of the time we were watching the muddy ground to keep ourselves upright. It's not just the bridge that was damaged; there has been a lot of erosion on the bank sides.

Tonight, to Henry IV Part I at the cinema. This production was so easy to follow with all words audible and spoken intelligently. I thought Anthony Sher made an excellent Falstaff. Prince Hal was undoubtedly "fit" in modern parlance!

Just time to make it to bed before midnight.

This image has had post production treatment with the art history brush to give an Impressionist effect.
