Baby bird

Found this little birdie a few days ago on the front lawn. With almost no feathers on its body, it was cold and wet. We had rain the previous night and quite a strong wind. Whether it fell out of the nest or was abandoned by the mother, we'll never know. Cannot decide what kind of a bird this is. Turtle dove perhaps? At first it was a mission to feed this little thing, but now he/she is so cute, eating the food from between my fingers. Hopefully this effort will not be in vain!
