It wouldn't be Spring in Michigan...

...Without the blossoming of the Great White Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum). I always thought the trillium was Michigan's state flower because it was illegal to pick them. Alas 'it's not. The apple blossom has that distinction (fitting, as we grow great apples) and the Dwarf Lake Iris is our state wildflower.

What is so special about the trillium? It's not even endangered! It's protected because to pick even one petal is to kill the entire plant.

So here's the best way to harvest trillium!
