White knight

This guy is a replica of one of the Lewis Chessmen (the knight, obviously) that were discovered buried in Uig. The theory is that these walrus-ivory pieces were part of a hidden treasure trove which was forgotten. These Viking pieces are wonderfully carved and currently stored in the Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and in the British Museum in London. This piece is left-over from a couple of chess-sets that I made using moulds and a sort of plaster-of-paris substance. It looks quite authentic and these days it guards a corner of my room behind the computer.
