Verdigris on Grandpa's copper

Previous to this summer Grandpa's copper, from the mine he managed near Huelva, Spain in the early twentieth century, glistened brightly in a storage jar. The jar became overheated by the sun in August 09 and exploded. Immediately the copper's colour dulled, and the verdigris appeared. At first I was sad; now I see beauty in the transformed metal.
