Lang Biang

No rest for the wicked, or the Smiths, so up for a yummy breakfast, and then on the road gain with Bay (photo of him and the kids), this time up a mountain, Lang Biang, which is essentially two mountains, around 2200 m, named from a Vietnamese legend about two lovers, the Vietnamese version of Romeo and Juliet.

The goal was to do something outdoors, for a change, and get up high to see the surrounding area. After around 1.5 hours of climbing through mostly forest, we made it to the top (with only one leach attaching to me!). To find … a road, street vendors, and a large café. Regardless, a sense of achievement, and a wonderful vista. Inevitably, some shopping occurred and then back down, just as a thunder storm rolled in … take the local jeep service down (around $15) or walk … we chose to walk. Thunder, lightning, torrential rain … we arrived back at the bottom an hour later, rather wet, and having had quite the adventure!

Lunch at a local cafe, again, very basic and simple, and cheap. But a bit dodgier, Adam and I briefly had a stomach ache (cleared up several hours later). Again, part of the adventure. And then off to the Valley of Love, a De Lat icon, and predictably cheesy …

Relaxing afternoon at the Villa, dinner in-house and an early night. Bliss.
