Memorial Day

For Great Uncle Leon,

“The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.” -John F. Kennedy

Memorial Day

We went to the town Memorial Day Parade this morning. Most of the marching festivities took place place without rain. My 90 year old friend, S marched, eight more years and he'll tie my Great Grandfather Lewis' marching career. The parade finishes in the cemetery with wreath laying, prayers and gun salutes at notable town graves. My Great Grandfather Lewis, Civil War Veteran, a past American Legion Post Commander and his son Leon were among those honored . In 1918, Leon gave his life in France near the close of World War I at the Battle of Saint Mihiel. His remains were shipped home in 1921 and reburied in Hanover.

For the Record,
This day came in rainy with breaking clouds and warmer temperatures.

All hands healthy

Thanks to Raspberry for once again working on a holiday.
